Vince and I put the first coat of Interlac 688 (sorry not IG68) down last night. It looks okay but you can still see much of the abraided steel. So I'm putting a coat of Interprime 198 on top and then a final coat of 688 to give it a nice finish. Here are a few shots of progress/results.

Ha! Smoking is one thing I seriously ought to stop (which I won't), and working on the B10 is what I need to do more of.

It's f'in hard work, this is my first ever attempt at a restoration let alone project build. And I still haven't driven a B10 for longer than 15 minutes at one time! OR have I been in a performance vehicle, it'll be interesting when it all gets going.....and then I have to leave for uni again! So I get a full 3 weeks to drive this thing then I'm gone!!!.

I've spent the last five years SLOWLY collecting all these awesome parts.....I guess I'll do it all overagain, with another B10 of course.

Hello All,

So I stuffed up a bit by putting the Interlac 688 on too early. I was using alot of paint because of the rough surface (if it were a smooth surface you would need much less, smaller surface area).

So I got back into it and put a coat down of Interprime 198 which is a high solids (41%) primer and a great base to build off.

All the paints, primers are compatible, that's the great thing about using multi-purpose surface coats. So putting the Interprime onto the 688 is fine, no issues whatsoever.

Here is how it all turned out:

Here are some shots of the rusty parts....sweet #### all to be honest. All patches were cleaned and cured so don't think I'm just painting over them. The places where the high solids primer have dripped will be worked over. I really had to lay it down in some places.

The spare wheel well has holes through it. It looks like it rusted through from the inside so I'm thinking about filling the holes and putting a fibre-glass lining in, see how it all goes I suppose.

I'll attempt to put the second coat of black paint on the underside. It's saturday though and the pub is mighty appealing.

This is a great project, you will have a historic JDM car that will go up in value as time goes by and more Japanese baby boomers will want to own.

As for choofing dont stop otherwise the main owners of the Tobacco industry will make less money which are Jewish owned. You dont want to make rich Jews poor do ya? ;)

Uni is a waste of time better learn a skill theres heaps more work for that. Unis in Australia are crooks they make 10 times more money from international students than the whole tourism industry. Also they help make rent an overpriced joke in all cities.

Hey D,

Thankyou very much indeed. I have been busy with it lately and the internet seems to work only for an hour each day now, can't seem to connect to photobucket so I can't put pictures up.

Yes my uni fees are monstrous. I am trying to get them all paid now though as the Aussie economy is nose-diving and our Kina is holding strong, good times to move money (AND BUY PARTS!).

Anyhow pictures up soon. Just need some co-operation from the internet.

EDIT: D, I am getting the impression you are a non-smoker?!

Front apron and engine bay with Lesonal 410 Fast Dry Primer (flashes off in about 5 minutes!!) same bloody colour so no differences in the eye of the spectator. That's me in the photo....bit of a day dreamer.

And here is what I got done at lunch and this afternoon.

Guards Primed Lesonal 410.

I rubbed the engine bay, apron, pillars and windows down for the final coat. The colour is absolutely bizarre but I am warming to it. It is a kind of green tinged white, sounds feral but it's okay.

Here is the pillar with a nice, generous coat.

The front apron with the coat on, it's turning out okay, I'm not yet happy with it so I might take to it with some sand paper and get another coat on.
