Yes I blasted the bonnet.....

Cigarettes are cheap up here

Problems with the A14 engine now. Updates shortly.

Sean I don't work that quick, I just don't stop for lunch. Start work at six and finish at Seven. I try to fit as much datsun time in as possible.

EDIT: Clear coat for engine bay going on at lunch today.

It should be okay. I'm yet to have a good look at it, just been whacking the primers on as fast as possible.

Crazy build up Chris and in a crazy location too! The first photo of the sedan with the volcano in the background is killer! You have to bring this car back to Adelaide mate.

If the bonnet doesnt work out there are always fibreglass ones around as well as guards.

Either way its looking off the scales clean.

whats wrong with the a14?

Hello D,

Yeah well the bonnet, umm.... I'm in some trouble with it. I had a good look at it last night and I'll need to do some considerable filling. It's shame really. Everything else seems okay.

Well the A14 wasn't oiling when I first got her going and I used alot of volts to get her to crank (very tight). So I'd stuffed up by putting the big main bearing on the end instead of the middle (my first complete rebuild) LOTS of crank end float.

Then about a week ago she starts to knock on startup. I pulled the sump off and found a VERY scary amount of metal filings in the sump pan. SO, I located the bad bearing (con rod bearing) and it had snapped it's key, rotated in it's seat and blocked the oil two oil galleys. So the number one bore hadn't been getting it's lubrication.

The crank is okay and so is the conrod, I just hope this is a one off thing.

I'm contemplating a complete strip and rebuild but I'm very tired. And I want to finish the body.

By the way, does anyone know if there is much copper in the bearing shells?

Sorry been a bit busy at work.

As for the B10 I've basically been rubbing down and filling. Running out of time.

Managed to paint the inside, you can really see the colour now, it still isn't what it looks like to the naked eye.

I'm on a break in Australia, so nothing much has happened. I have however, collected my Sports Steering wheel. Something I have been chasing for years n years. Here is a pic of it, came off ebay a few weeks ago. That's my lad, he keeps pulling it out from my suitcase.... he says it's his, not mine.

looking good,

a little tip.. pull off the cracked up crashpad (dash top)
the ashtray has a cutout in the steel, and glue the ally flashings onto the painted dash, the only thing you'll need is the early instrument cluster to finish it off..

looks a treat when it's all done..
