#1 Weber MCHH carbs, anyone tried them yet??

Some of you may have noticed the weber MCHH carb kits for Triumph and BMC cars as replacements for SU's. They are basically a DCOE spit in half, for those of us with LHD the master cylinders are in the way if you plan to fit webers. As these don't require a new manifold for my GX engine I was considering it. Thoughts???

I would say, go for it Tom. If they are indeed based on DCOE design, but single throat, they would be very tunable and would give the little GX a bit more puch

you have to play with all the jets and stuff very tedious tuning to get right, I suggest for halve the price go for high flowed Jaguar or Rover 2inch SUS fully recoed for way less and get your inlet manifold extrude honed and match port to your inlets.

A pair of MCHH carbs will set me back about $500 for new. I thought about the motorcycle carbs but most of the vintage groups, don't allow them.
Benny you were thinking exactly what I was, tons of weber tuning buts available. A pair of DCOE's would be better but that would involve a new brake pedal set up plus the cost of the manifold and carb................easily $1000-1500 all said and done. I'm only looking to get the motor up to about 100hp, my current thinking is 100HP or 300HP...........why bother with anything in between, if your gonna spend more then 500-600 bucks go all out. ( it's flawed I know)

Tom you could pick up jag sus for next to nothing, get them rebuild for 100-120 each inc. slight machining for extra flow on entry area, extrude hone a twin sus manifold, match port your heads to it and simple tuning would cost under $450usd. It will look original and should get you 100hp. There are no jets to play with they adjust from the base and the 2 needles can be changed cheaply.
2 inches is almost 50.1mm each for us aussies.

Thanks D that is a definite option............a pal owns an E type and I believe he upgraded to Webers so he likely has a set.

Anyone say high flow?

The twin fuel bowls are for methanol as its consumed at twice the speed or more in drag racing.
