anyone shed any light on what may or may not be going on here,
here is the situation,
im driving along in my little ute, all is well until i come to a hill. in 4th or 5th it will start to stutter and carry on, whack him back to third, she starts going again as per normal.
it will do it a little bit on a flat road when you stomp it in 4th or 5th, but is alot worse when a incline is involved.
any ideas?

this wont be fine for the while, as i have to go back to 4th or sometimes 3rd on ANY kind of slope.
gets a bit annoying on the 600km brisbane-tamworth trek.

maybe run a air fuel ratio gauge, it may be lean or rich due to the carbs being incorrectly jetted

Check your timing and points (if you're running them). I have had the same sort of thing happen on the open road, thought it was fuel, changed down to bring up revs and she was fine - turned out to be points closing up on the journey.

Hey Steve
It certainly sounds like ignition breaking down under load. The coil ort condenser being the most likly culperet. Change your coil and condenser and give her a go up Queens Road or Diamond Street. Let me know how she gets on then.

Thought of a long steep hill down your way good for testing. Plantain road, school end to top of Daisy Hill. Or do as I always do when down there, The West Mt Cotton run! That will sort out all the bugs

but im down in tamworth at the moment so those roads are a bit far away atm.
i have changed a few things and it has seemed to clear it up, but i havent had a good chance to take it out on the road yet because ii been pretty crook the past week.

Iam an old Woodridge boy, Jacaranda ave and my wife was from over on Concorde drv. I lived in Woodridge from 1966 to 1989. TO DAMN LONG!!
I hope you got her all sorted now. We have a lack of communication around here though! If I had known that you were going down south I could had you drop off some rims at Andy's place. Just Kidding Safe trip home OK!
