well im embarking on a project of building my own centrifugal supercharger. Yes i all ready kno about the high speeds these things need to do. first intesions were a belt driven gear box like the powerdyne but cant locate sealed bearing to do the compressor shaft speed apart from powerdyne (400.00ea) something like that. To options left using ceremic ball bearings only ones that will do over 36000 RPM is gear driven and chain driven both will be in a oil bath for obvious reasons. chain will max out at a driving rpm of 24000 rpm after step up from engine which will then drive the impellor shaft at max 96000 rpm at 6000 engine rpm this will be max load limit.

wondering on what other people oppion is on the chain drive ? and has anyone do something simular to this ?

And i would like to stay away from gears will keep you posted as i progress on the build aswell

Cheers Harley

john zappia was working on one (electric)
48v 4 batteries in back
landcruiser starter
5:1 belt drive
####ing big turbo compressor housing

just use bearing housing from same turbo you got compressor from plumb it up and go
make pulley for turbo shaft and get it balanced by a turbo reman place
gears will be mega noisy unless you make them helical cut. chain ? i dont think they will take the speeds your talking about.
