The last time i checked,C/F panels where illegal in Qld. & Vic.on road rego'd vehicles, don't know about other states, but once painted Plod would never know.

Motor Sport(CAMS)
Sports Sedan only, all other classes relevant to us require original steel panels, unless you cheating.
AASA Racing, supposed to follow the CAMS manual or local traffic codes but by my observations almost anything goes.
Drag racing, not sure but would imagine would be OK.

Now having said all this,i believe the price and quality of these bonnets is quite reasonable as anyone that has had experiance in making glass panels will agree,as long as you can legally/morally use one i reckon there the ducks nuts.

as for RWC'ness ... i doubt it, plus in the event of a headon accident the strength of the bonnet and rigidity is more than likely to sheer the bolts or tear the arms clean out of the thing and send it thru the windscreen like a guillotine !!!

I was under the impression carbon fibre bonnets were built with a break line in them for that reason so that if you do have a head on they fold in half/crumple more like a conventional bonnet.

What is the price going to be on a fibreglass version for those who want to paint them?

OK, I have some pricing for everyone!

I have done a deal with the manufacturer of the bonnets to sell the first 10 only at a once only price of $1350 each. After they are sold they will be $1600 each.

These are not crappy Chinese quality products, they are made from all the very best Carbon and Kevlar products available. Many of the current V8 supercar teams make there panels with the same gear.
They are a hand layed and vacuum-infused carbon/Kevlar and are not reinforced with fiberglass.

We are working on other products for the 1200 and 1600, i will let you know when we have more progress.

Cheers Scott

ouch!!!!! i knew it was going to hit hard but man....

i retract my previous statement on ordering one as that is more than i paid for my car and 4age engine to go in it. :(

Cant really justify it atm but cant wait to see one on a car.

this is exactly the same reaction that topgear got when he made his H165 LSD, and frankthedolphintrainer got when he group made his turbo manifolds. Everyone wants but no one can afford. For funks sake people, this is top quality merchandise we're talkin about and to put it in perspective, most people who own a bmw don't even flinch when every 6 months they spend $3,000 on a grease/oil change. How can you complain about 1600 bucks for top quality kevlar?

Bert and Ronald I could not agree more, I'm not sure tht people realise how much money, effot and time goes into these products.
If you think that you are going to pick up a 100% vacuum infused Carbon/kevlar bonnet for $500-$600 you are dreaming, the weaves, resins and vacuum bags cost more than that, let alone the labour of about 17-18 hours work. You do the maths, we aren't making much on these at all, just trying to provide the best quaulity product avalible at a reasonable price.
If you just want a cheap replacement bonnet, have a look on ebay for some Chinese gear..

they are worth it just by the pictures, im tossing and turning on wether to buy....

got to give credit to the guys that put the effort in to make these available... even at the end of the day if you think you could make somthing of your own (even stickers) you usually dont and therefore pay the labour for someone else to do it......thats in many many aspects of life

a few years back i looked into using fibreglass guards etc (i assume carbon is under same rules)

vicroads suggested that pre 73 or 75 (cant remember) that the adr's covering this stuff didnt exist and therefore they suggested fibreglass could be used for any panel in front of firewall

i wouldnt say definate ok but worth looking into for very early 70's 1200s
