I'm hearing mixed things regarding the cost. Wasn't going to go due to the overall cost but this is the latest e-mail from Ray who is on the committee at the QLD Z car club sent to Buzz (member of QPDC and this forum). Quote: Hi Buzz/
As promised.
The cost as indicated for Nationals next year for the Show and Shine is a separate cost.
It was broken up as follows
Saturday is as follows
Car show starts 8.00 till 2.30
Drags start 4.30 and finish 10.00pm
1/ Show and shine $35.00-$45.00 to be finalized ( not all committee was at meeting last night)
2/ if you are lucky to be a winner in any of the categories and do not go to the dinner on Sunday night ($65.00 / person) and have not pre-booked for the dinner prior to the weekend you will receive your trophy/prize by other means (post or personal)
3/ you can purchase the NDN09 bag, shirt etc as separate items. Again if you require, these must be pre ordered prior to the day. Some will be available on the day
4/ the drags are a separate cost of $45.00 per vehicle
5/ practice for the Friday for the Sprint on the Sunday will be $45.00
6/ no entry cost to the Morgan Park complex on the Sunday
Trust that this is the information you require If not please ask and I will get answers
Regards RAY

I don't know what drugs he's on, but that's totally different to all the official information about the event: The official Nissan Datsun Nationals info on the Z Car Club site http://www.zcarclubq.org.au/events/2009nationals/registration.html doesn't mention anything about $45 entry to the show and shine. The General Participation fee is $185-210: Quote: The fee for general participation is the minimum entry level and entitles the participant to: Entry in the car display, Presentation dinner, NDN09 Cap, NDN09 bag, NDN09 programme, Stubby holder, Polo shirt, Welcome Barbecue, Key ring, Lanyard. The NDN09 registration form http://www.zcarclubq.org.au/events/2009nationals/regv1_3.pdf has no option to enter the show and shine seperately - 1 car display is included in the $185-210 General Participation Fee. And the email response from the Z car club when we asked if we could just enter the Sprint ($130-140) seperately from the $185-210 General Participation fee as we were not interested the merchandice that comes with the entry or doing the show'n'shine with our track cars: Quote: Sorry to hear that you aren't interested in the social side of the event. Unfortunatly the nationals are focused on bringing people together. We aren't just running a track day. As some participants are already likely to be turned away from the sprint event it would not be in our participant's best interests to allow participation in the track event only.
The event fees are calculated based on everone contributing through the general entry to then cover the event costs. If we allowed people to opt out of the general entry we would not be able to cover our costs.
The bottom line is that we will have plenty of participants wanting to do everything so we are obliged to accomodate as many of them as possible.
I think you have three options: 1. Register your interest and pay the minimum $315 for the general entry and the sprint before the early bird cut off. 2. Register your interest and pay the minimum $350 for the general entry and the sprint after the early bird cut off. 3. Take part in one of the numerous track day events held around the country (including Morgan Park) that do not focus on the social side.
Thanks Greg
No mixed messages there! I can do 3 or 4 sprints and hillclimbs for that. So I won't be there, and neither will almost all the regular runners I know.

I wont be there, bit far to go for me, but I'd just like to say I think its worth paying extra to do these events wit a bunch of other dattos, even if thats the only reason.

As an event organiser in the past and helper these days, might i suggest if your keen and have a lazy $300-350 enter this thing and see what happens,But don't have a whinge if you did'nt get your money's worth, for all i know it could be a huge success, but with all the fact/fiction/odd information thats getting around i feel a total cock up is immenent. It would appear no one is in effective control which is required to run any event of this nature. This and the fact that any value for money is not evident will keep my and others vehicles in thier garages for this weekend.

Really? i thought alll the dato people in QLD would be there? oh well, you guys will come out for a look, wont you?
the way i see it, it's a chance to get away on a holiday and be in 'dato mecca!' for three days, it'll be fun. Morgan park is a nice little circuit, haven't raced on it since i moved back from ipswich a couple years ago.
But by going on what bert said in his last post, i hope the organisers are organised, that could ruin alot weekends for people who live down south, but we won't know until the event.Does anyone know who offically is organisers?
I was told the Sydney datsun club was organising it, as stated before it its the Z-car club QLD, i heard from a mate that MADDAT is organise it, can anyone shed some light on?
