Thanks heaps DatsAndy. That what i thought, i read off the rta site that if i use original rails and that, its an 'owners minor mod' and they dont need engineering.

30mm spacer you should be able to get from a speicialised bolt supplier, blackwoods is where i get my stuff from,

Nots 'n' bolts get them from the same place, and you want high tensile nuts and bolts.

I'd go for 50mm x 6mm flat bar, no chance of any warping or bending in an accident.

I wish i had a pic for you,

i removed the seat mounts & welded 25mm or 30mm anlge to the new seat rails, so the angle sits on the original datsun mounts in the car.

how i did mine

got some 5x50 flat plate, drilled holes so that the flat plate bolted to the seat, one plate across the front and one across the back
then drilled holes so that the flat plate bolted to the original seat rail

the width of the steel you get will be determined by how far apart the front and back holes are on the seat compared to the rail, as the plate obviously has to be wide enough for you to be able to bolt it to both

Thanks PIGDOG You put it in a nut shell there. 1 across front and back bolts to seat then bolts to rails. Don't use RHS your seat will be to high i reckon.

recess 50mm x 50mm box section into the floor and weld it in. Then make provisions to bolt the seat brackets through them and the floor.

Thats exactly what i trying to explain, thats the best way to do it, i had no problem getting my SAAS seats engineered with my CA18 coupe, it was exactly the same principal as in the phooto above.
