The whole issue with bike motors having troubles pulling 600kg car's is rubbish. A two up hayabusa is going to easily weigh 400kg (bike alone weighs 250kg).

Then you have to realise in a car application they are geared down hugely compared the the motorbike. Hayabusa's are geared to do 160kmph in 1st or something stupid. In a car application you'd gear it to do 200 max.

Double the weight, half the final drive ratio = engine under same load.

Completely agree, its simple mathematics, even if it was geared to 250kph top speed it still wouldn't break a sweat.
I still think if I was going to use a complete bike motor i'd turn it 90 and make it a north/south motor and try and adapt up a conventional car 6 speed, I don't know if it would even be possible although you would lose the sequential gears, I just think it would be nicer overall to drive. Although an out and out race car may be a different story.

also another quick thing, Do motorcycle barrels only need to be plated because they are aluminium and dont run cylinder liners, therefore meaning motorcyle pistons would run fine in a car engine with cylinder liners?

Nick if you dont want to race it in the under 2ltr class just stick to an Mr20 the 1188cc motor in all alloy is quite a challenge hence I suggest the ma12s then you can just use thicker cylinder liners and only 8v to play with. It will make hp with the right small roller bearing turbo. There was a guy in queensland making over 250hp ATW with a 1200 cc or less suzuki gti motor and with a small turbo that was supposed to max out at 11psi but taking it to 25psi with no issues.
Keep it simple

For all others considering a bike motor dont forget to have a minimum of 5kAUD for starters just for a decent r1 or 1300cc bike motor. Then another 10k to get it fitted and going.

toyota v8 width of a truck and wont fit 1k and weighs 230kg. Look up engine weight chart online. Even if you angle grinded out 50kg to make it 159kg its still a heavy titanic anchor.

Sorry D I should be more clear, i'm not building a race car (yet) I'm just purely having a discussion for interests sake, with maybe a spin off that it might provide some info for someone who's going into IPRA.
I just love talking about building motors, all this info will get stored away hopefully for use sometime in the future.

Hmmm, for IPRA wouldn't it make sense to use a gen 1 civic with a mid mount Fireblade motor?

Or mabey the Valkyrie's 6 cyl.......

Unfortunatly it it must be a block from the same AUTOMOTIVE manufacturer, I looked at this also (Mighty Boy & Hyhabusa engine).

An early civic and an S2000 engine would be formidable. But thats not a DATSUN either!!

If you are going honda then a honda z360 with blackbird turbo would be like giving Madonna a Falcon punch with knuckle busters a big run up absolutely priceless!.

Since its a datsun site then we have to stick with Nissan or even blasphemy the parent company Renault.

Since 1k are becoming so rare, I will have to say racing one is getting close to labelling it a criminal act and would in theory lean towards an early 90s Micra with Midmount (if allowed thena can be incorporated into the rollcage) with a choice of either a custom crank HR15de destroked to 1180 whatever cc its needs to qualify for U2ltr for boost or an MR20de or QR20De in NA form.
The QR20DE would be the easiest to implement with the 3rd party availability of NA parts and the fact that some are already been dynod at making over 320hp plus in an up and coming sports sedan. Also the availability of this engine from Japan and local Qr25de blocks that can be made into qr20de if need be with off the shelve Nissan crank rods and pistons.

If someone can make a Micra midmount kit like Z cars has done for the Mini to take the SR20DE or QR25DE there is a huge world market to consider and a profitable one at that.
The same can be made for the zillions of Suzuki swifts, Holden barinas (suzuki swift using 2.3 litre J23a or 2 litre J20, all have no vtec and Holden barinas the all alloy pushrod LZ9 3900)

Micra a La Z car with midmount would rock the tinea off my socks.

This Micra is an idea of what can be achieved but would need flip front and the Yota below rocks the hemroids out from me rear!! but uses cast iron 20v eage instead of a Celica 2ZZ.
