Picture this; Happy man driving into town, there is a little water on the road but he is making good time at 100kph. Then with out a sign a loud bang eminates from the rear of the car followed by a dramatic change in the car's on road position (we are now sideways), NOT FUNNY!! Table drain is comming up quick so I apply a modicome of oppisite lock, car pitches the other way with almost the same furvour of the first directional change. Eventually she comes to a halt on the road shoulder 180deg out of position and I am in need of a change of undies. I have never been in a car that got so out of shape so quick as Betty did. Proves the point that good tyres are essential
OH I put my 12" spare on and drove the last 10 klm into town. My diff that had a minor noise now has a major noise. I now have learned; A spare that is the same size as your road wheels is a good thing. I am definately looking into rear swaybar setup aswell.

why didn't you stick one of your other wheels on the back and stick the 12 on the front to stop the wear on ya diff?

The diff needed replacing anyway
Yes it would been better to put the spare on the front as it was only 10klm to town but I suppose you don't think of that while you are getting a wet backside and in need of an jock swap out

There's nothing like a shart in the daks to remind you that everything can go pear shaped in a flash. I remember riding my motorbike to work about 10 years ago when a simple turn highsided me due to a little bit of oil in the road. My life flashed before my eyes before I hit the bluestone roundabout and you know what. I fell asleep it was that boring! I woke up in hospital with all sorts of injuries and to this day I still don't know if it was the 'life flash' or 'being hit from behind with my motorbike and thrust at 80kph into a bluestone roundabout' that knocked me out.
