Hi Guys,
This is a automobile article where is tells how to check the clutch is worn or not Please go throughly this and explain me clearly what does it mean 1.Turn the engine on. 2. Depress the clutch pedal and put the ransmission in fourth gear. 3. Slowly let up on the clutch while stepping on the gas pedal. 4. if you are able to completely release the clutch pedal without the engine stalling (or the car moving), your clutch is history. Thanks Regards Sumith

to put it simply
start the engine, put your foot on the clutch, put the car in 4th gear and then let the clutch pedal out at the same rate as putting the accelerator on, if the engine revs freely, and the car doesnt move, the clutch is goooooone

You will know when the clutch is about to expire: it will start slipping in 3rd and 4th gear going up hills. Change it quick when this happens.
To prevent this slipping, adjust the clutch at least once a year.

There's not really a sure fire way of figuring out if it's gone other than taking it out and checking it. These other measures if performed by an inexperienced person will only serve to roast a clutch that might still have a few kilometres left in it...
With enough torque, as has happened to me about a week ago(expensive mistake), you can overcome even a competition pressure plate with a copper button clutch. I only realised something wasn't doing it's job when after 20 seconds of "burn-out" there wasn't any smoke passing me... I'd rather follow this procedure, as it tests if the clutch will work in a real world situation. Drive on the high way and if you slip change into a higher gear(give lots of gas before releasing the pedal completely), going up a hill and it doesn't slip then it's ok. But if it even slips for longer than a moment after releasing the pedal completely, it's most probably on it's way out...

clutch is a good "fuse"
cheapest part of the driveline bit of slip isnt always a bad thing so long as it doesnt slip under full load You can view topic.
