When was the last time you bought a ball joint and they were packaged like this?

Amazing you where able to get the shocks too!! great packaging

Gav you might want to do the G/box tunnel larger for a future box upgrade as most people with this box have had problems with the first gear being useless
and also the box getting crunchy after some abuse. Some Sierra fellas have done the Mazda smooth case box from a RWD 929 which is a close ratio style box.

Also make sure you rip out all the sound deadening crap and vinyl on the sides you are sure to find surface rust
and go over it with a wire brush on your angle grinder. Finish it off with etch primer with rust inhibitor, Dynagrip spray on rubber coating
(its about the only stuff that you can spray on paint after wards) which also has rust inhibitor.
Make sure you wear protective gear and a mask as some of the original stuff has high lead content and maybe other nasties.

The brake setup is a Sigma Ge 78-80 using PBR calipers.
There are 3 way to do it using 120y/1200 discs, original sigma discs with centre hole enlarged or the best way
120y/1200 hubs machine for the 2mm smaller centre hole on Sigma discs.

Also be careful with metallic colors they can make the car look cheap compared to pastels on old retro cars.
Unless you spend big money most of the metallic colours end up very sad specially after 1 year of being sprayed.
Also chrome and alloy highlights match pastels much better.

Looking good though thanks for the updates.
The g13b has no competitors in power to weight in the 1300cc class.
For better clearance in a 1000 and lighter again the sohc 16v head once you get the right camshaft has bigger ports,
more meat in the ports, larger valves and lighter weight again.
These engines cant be used for racing in Datsun bodied cars but are the ultimate mass produced car engine for power to weight.
My old 2 door sedan has had the vitara 1.6 sohc version put in
and the new owner in the process of adding a turbo to it.

I didn't know about the 929 box conversion. There is a fair bit of room there but I will keep it in mind when getting the tunnel looked at. Would love to get a cheap one to see how it fits. That would fix my speedo promlem. Sierra's run a speed sensor in the transfer case, which means ive got no speed sensor. Any ideas?
I will pull that trim down, clean it and paint. Ive got a product called POR 15 to paint my subframe. I was going to see how it went on and do to floor and inner guards in that. I totally agree with metallic paints, my colour is not metallic bot more pastel. Click below to have a look of the colour.

It should look very nice in that color, I did a Celica Ra28 in ford blaze blue, very similar and it looked delicious.

You best go the Mazda box if possible as the only other speedo sensor you could run would be off a wheel sensor or see how the APV vans do it on the latest suzuki APV they run a slanted 1.6.

Youll need to get someone to use the 929 bellhousing and machine it about 2 inches to allow the same amount of thickness on a sierra bellhousing.

Im going traumatic (well improved internals and fully manualised) off a Vitara bellshousing as Im running the 1.6 vitara motor. I was going manual but got so used to an auto recently on a Merc coupe that I love the comfort and ease of not using a clutch. I know the Merc box is a different animal but trimatics internal mods have come along way. I also have an auto 3.4 ratio alfa romeo diff with alloy housed LSD which has to be shortened and hopefully run pintara disc and calipers, axles and outer section of axle tubing.

These are the stainless coolant pipes we made to suit my dato radiator. Hope it doesnt get too hot. The swift radiator is only small so fingers crossed. I bought the steel from Stainless Supplies at Chipping Norton. Good price and they can make anything you want out of stainless.

We had half a day of sun today. We already had wet rubbed it and dressed all the holes we welded up. No battery support, no fuel filter clip, welded the big holes on the inner guards, chopped drain for pleniumn. The wheather was not ideal but we went for it cause we are getting too far behind. It turned out sweet. Cant wait for the colour.

Chopped drain tube, fouls the thermostat housing
