This could take a minute or two.
First of all, some history. This turbo project started about five years ago on a B-210. It then got transfered to a 1200 when the B-210 was sold. (Well, traded for a 1200 to be exact.) I built the "crossover" pipe (from the exhaust manifold to the turbo), the mount, and the oil return hose on a mockup car. The project then went back into storage when I moved the shop across town.
Some of you with sharp eyes might recognize the car as Gil from the photo album. Gil was being converted into Mini-Pearl with the installation of a Z-20 and automatic for my mom. Halfway through that project, a 510 (1600) came along and became Mini-Pearl, but that's another story and can be found elsewhere. Gil became Gilligan, as in Gil again, but I digress.
Now, the turbo project had been resurrected for another car. (I had a butt load of machine work done to get a good solid engine going for the project. Pictures of that can be found in the photo album also.) Problem is, someone came along and wanted to buy that car. This left me with a large investment in a "turbo A-13" engine with no home. I decided that Gilligan needed the A-13 turbo rather than the Z-20 since I had already done a Z-20 1200, The Chickenhawk.
Whew! Now to the pictures. Picture one shows the Saab Blackstone (or Blackstone from a Saab as the case may be) intercooler sitting in the heavily modified radiator core support. The B-210 radiator has been moved as far to the (US) driver's side as possible. The black pipe that says "Turbo Intercooler" is being fitted. It will sit lower when finished.
Picture two shows the Mitsubishi turbo, one from a twin turbo 3000GT, sitting on its mount attached to the motor mount. The battery is from a Mazda Miata, nice and small. Under the intercooler is a heat shield covering the air filter. The heat shield also serves as a support for the intercooler while I get it all mounted up real nice.
Well, that's about it for those pix. Thanks to John for getting those posted for me. We'll have more as progress, um, well, progresses.
