I run a 200mm clutch, a 63a dogleg 5spd, and an h165 diff with a spring loaded locker modification.

We had an A12 that was happy to rev around 7,000 and that was just a bit of backyard port work and double valve springs. With a mild cam and 32/36 weber. it was running fine till i retired it for an A14. One day i pulled the head off and found Number 3 piston had spat the rings into the head like pickin glass out of wounds, yet it still ran fine. They are hard to kill the A series i miss me little A14 in some ways.

blower belt prob came off because engine failed first.
boost + cast pistons + rpm = shrapnel
build a better bottom end to take some boost

Sorry to hear that Bart.
I am officially back on the road with my H165 (locked rear diff). I've been rodding on it for the past week and that H165 has bee holding up. Haven't hit the Nitrous yet. I've had the bottle out of the car. Moving the bottle from the passenger seat to the trunk to satisfy track safety rules. Only thing left is to weld up the bottle bracket in the trunk.
It took me a while to locate some new wheel bearings for the H165 and also had to modify the mounts. Ends up I didn't have to shorten the driveshaft and only needed 8mm wheel spacers (I did replace the wheel studs with longer ones).
Its great to be back on the road and best thing is, drag season starts next month!

great to hear Ernie!
My last motor only ran 7psi, and that went fine for two and a half years. I think wat killed that was holding it wide open for too long in top gear on a really hot day. The motor which just died was running 15psi, and greatly limited timing. (22' with a locked dizzy) TBH, I was amazed by the reliabilty of it up to the point it died. I should be outside pulling it out right now, but i forgot to bring my tools home. There is a chance that it may be repairable. The "good" motor will be getting ARP's for certain when I rebuild it. This was only a temporary engine.

Not yet.

I pulled it down just before. turns out a piston disintergrated, bent two pushrods and took the head off a valve. very ugly.
