What model did the A15 come in over there in USA?

According to my Chilton Repair manual, it was available in a 79-82
210,210MPG

I am not sure if I have the model name right or not or year but I have seen the A 15 in a 310 or B 310 front wheel drive and the little mid engine model that
resembles the X 19.

Anyways, I'll reply to a few topics.

Regarding an A12 with A13,A14,A15 heads, the oil supply to the rocker arms is a little different.

I have a 5spd in my 1200 sedan from a 210. The trans bolts on to the engine(the A series bellhousings are the same) with only one problem the reverse light switch hits the body trans
mount. Oh well, no reverse lights.
The FS5W60A (current trans) has a 1-2,3-4,5-R shift pattern.
The FS5W60L has the R-1,2-3,4-5 pattern.
I have the gear ratios written somewhere. I remember that 3rd is closer to 2nd on the L and both have .846:1 5th.
They both look and fit the same.
The 3 previous 5spds,that i used, were wasted do to bearing failure. So when this one started buzzing, i had it rebuilt with new bearings and seals. It has lasted about a year so
far.

Ahhh, I wasn't aware that any of the 210 5 speeds had overdrive.. Definately something that I've been looking for.. thanks for
the info.. :)

From what i have gathered, A series 5 speed boxes never had overdrive. I got this info from the Nissan Motorsports Catalog which has all the performance stuff
in it for datsuns.

There are 2 types of boxes but both have 1:1 5th gear. Maybe i have misread somthing?

You correctly read the Nissan Motorsports Catalog. I think these are competition or race parts and were not available as a stock option. At least not in the USA.
According to the Chilton Repair Manual for Datsun/Nissan 1200, B210, 210 and Sentra 1973-88 American and Canadian versions..."The 1977-78 B210 uses the model FS5W63A five
speed transmission. The 1979 210 has a FS5W60L five speed transmission, while the 1980 and later use the FS5W60A five speed transmissions."
I think I've used all three of these. They all look about the same. A Haynes Repair Manual shows the gear ratios for the 60L as .845 in 5th. And it has the R-1,2-3,4-
5 pattern.
Anyways, they're out there somewhere.

I have a 5 speed box which has R-1, 2-3, 4-5 pattern. So your saying i 'could' have a overdrive box? I will have to pull it apart one day before i bolt
it to an engine.

To check gear ratio without dissasembly place in 5th gear mark input and output shafts, turn input shaft one turn. If output shaft is at the same place as it started it is a 0ne
to one ratio. If it went past one turn, it is a overdrive 5th gear.

But that would be too easy!! I would have thought of that if i
actually used my brain.
