You shouldn't have a problem running a high power coil with the Petronix if it's triggering and MSD or equivelent ignition box though, correct? From what I understand this is why points last much longer with MSD boxes as well because there's really not much load on the distributor???

There's probably close to no current at all required to trigger the MSD. The MSD then runs the coil.
