i still have no idea why they had different set up for the sedan though....well at least this is a coil setup cause i was going to see if i could change the leafs to coils but when me and jordy looked there was coils instead of leafs....but yea it was the 81 4 door sedan GL model, though i dont think i have any photos around the house, will have to ask my pop or my mother if they have any but i doubt they will have any of underneath

do you know what diff mine is by looking at it?

Yes, post a pic, we should be able to ID. Pics of back across axle and front of diff would be best.

Are we talking about the 4-dr sedan in your avatar?

So your new one (4-dr sedan) has rear coil springs:

But your old B310 had rear leaf springs...Quote:
it was an 81 model and had leaf springs on the back but this 80 model i have doesnt....it has coils springs. Just interested to know why

Well, your new one has coils, sedans normally have rear coils. No mystery there.

Was your old one a B310 square-back Wagon? Those had leaf spring rears.Quote:
my old one was an 1981 sunny sedan GL
That's a mystery. Japan catalog says all Sedans got coils. USA catalog ditto. Maybe they had a leaf-spring sedan for sale in some countries.

Nice, DD. Is what i would have thought.

Good luck with the Sunny datski, I used to have a full interior in awesome nick (black) but i think I got rid of it when I sold all my Sunny gear off- Didn't think i'd own another datto! I'll check tho..

Slight hijack;
K dogg- Do you know if S13 struts fit a sunny?

dont worry i am making all my new interior at work just have to pay for materials. So i hope to have a really nice and tidy car when i am finished, it will just take me some time. My only problem is getting a new crash pad or making one still deciding

i reckon they would,with slight modifications,just like putting 180b or 240k struts in the 1200s. you just need to swap lower control arms etc aswell.

maybe this is because its part of what happened to increase the percentage of australian made parts on cars at about that time. the 200B made in aust had a solid rear axle with struts setup all australian made for that reason, maybe some locally assembled or partly locally assembled sunny's had a locally made leaf rear end, but it would be a backward step.
