you can't use 200B struts in a 1200 - the spring is too big in diameter.

so? its easy enough to whack some 1200 perches on em.

really - even though the spring is different in diameter and thickness?

and the 1200 spring doesn't sit on the 200B strut spring cup because of the above as well...

please - do elaborate.

you need stanza or 180B brakes up front, lowered 50mm with a 1in lowering block out bac to get it level.

need to run min 13in rims with this though.

geez, wheres the fun in putting a non stock strut in a 1200 and keeping it the same as when it came out of the donor vehicle?
technically 180b struts wont fit either as the springs are the same size as 200b

ive had about 3 sets of 200b struts in my car....so you can use them. just gotta go to the small amount of effort to change the spring perches to 1200 sized ones

13 inch mags should clear 200b brakes pretty easy, boffs running 200b discs and 240k twin spot calipers on stanza/200b struts with 13 inch mags and has plenty of room
its only steel rims that the clearance will be tight

series 2 180B springs are the same diameter as 200B - series 1 are smaller.

i've had all of them. stanza and sunny work best. series 1 180b next.

why bother to chop sh1t up when others are available for direct replacement....

id like to see these series 1 180b struts, as every 180b ive seen has large springs

and you use other struts coz stanza and sunny ones are way too long to allow for any travel, so rather than buying shorter shocks and cutting down the struts to suit. you just change spring perches on struts that are already shorter

seems as it takes all of about a half hour at most to change the spring perches on a set of struts
but then if you want a decent set of struts you would probably be cutting thm down to suit a decent length good quality shock anyway. so a little cutting and welding will always be done to get a really good quality strut that will work well on a lowered car

sunny struts and worthless and should be binned straight away, why in the hell would you choose sunny over the series 1 180b struts if they supposedly have the smaller springs....as they would then be exactly the same as sunny struts but with shorter shocks, making them better for a 1200

No way.

I have a pair of early model 180b struts and a late model 180b, both pairs of struts have the larger spring as in a 200b or 1600, only the 1200, 120y, 240/260/280Z, sunny and stanza have the smaller diam spring seat.

And as pigdog said, stanza and sunny struts are about 2inches too long for normal ride height let alone a lowered car...

stanza struts were so 90's.

I run stanza struts in my 120Y and it's lowered, only by about 50mm or so but it handles quite well. It's o.k for daily use but if you wanted to go to the track it would be a different story.

First off, choose your car. You can put an L series in either a 120Y or a 1200, even a sunny but the conversion will differ from model to model depending on what you want to do. There will be extra work to fit an L20 due to the extra nearly 20mm of deck height but again it is do-able. It depend on your budget and skill level. The more skills you have the cheaper it will be.

What is your budget and do you have a car yet?

really!!!!! i thought that would be really, really, really obvious!!
i thought it would be obvious to gather that you wouldnt use the 200b spring on a 1200 perch, that you would use a 1200 perch and a 1200 spring. noone would be that stupid. well.......hmmm?
stanza struts you say?? and not enough travel as a bolt in, they really need to be shortened. which = cutting.
have i elaborated enough buddy??

Lowered front with stanza struts.

Engine crossmember consisting of stanza mounts welded to 120Y crossmember. Can use 200b, bluebird or stanza sump. Retains all steering geometry. The only downside is it pushes the engine about 30mm further back than if you use the 180b crossmember but there is no hassles with control arms and sway bar etc. By far the best way to do it. L16 and L18 have plenty of bonnet clearance.

And the end result. l series with twin SU's fit nicely enough. But I got better power and economy with a 32/36 weber. Now it's on straight LPG.

Hope it all helps.
