Goin for exhaust this week, after playin around this weekend got the a14 goin nicely w stock carb
its great to have it movin under its own power again.

The rust still needs to come out but tis easy ####

apart from that should be a goer by the end of march hopefully w rego.

I've got another project on the cards
full rally / race car I'll know by the end of the week if I'm gonna be able to pull it off. I'll keep ya posted.

And I found out why I was so confused about the choke on the su's.

Turns out the choke cable attachmet bit has been cut completely off
and su's are a b!@# to start w no choke.
So Yeah. Those carbs are currently w an a12 head getting put on a flow bench and getting ported. Then double valve springs. Then maybe onto the a14.

Any one know if a12 heads go onto a14 blocks?

Catch ya

CITY CUSTOM EXHAUST ROCKS!!!!

Go there they are good.

Jethro did a lil 2 inch straight thru thang for me, he even tucked the outlet under the rear skirt for uber sleepy goodness.

It sounds great, nice n loud on throttle but sort of tame on idle, just what I wanted so big props to CITY CUSTOM EXHAUST
www.citycustomexhaust.com.au

Gotta get the 36/36 DCD tuned now,

thanks Clive for jetting info!!!

If anyone else has run the Weber 36/36 DCD carb on an a series and knows their jet settings etc that info would be much appreciated.

So thats it for now, I'll be onto rust this weekend then its rego, so hopefully it'll get done within the month I set for my self

I have a 32/36 DGV Weber on mine if thats the same as yours??? if so i just left the jets the same as when it came off a GT cortina(standard equipment on them)

Thanks griffo
but its a twin 36mm "36/36" DCD synchronous (although it may have had a progressive kit put on it as the primary open frist then the secondary )

its quite different from the ol 32/36 DGV which I should really get cos, like u say, its pretty much a straight bolt on but hey like w everything u learn as u go.

On the plus side the twin 36 should flow alright down bottom and really pack a punch up top so it'll be worthwhile in the end once its tuned right.

The info I have so far from Clive is as follows and is dependent on altitude: It must also be stressed that these are preliminary figures as Clive replied straight away to my email and will provide more accurate info tomorrow

Primary/Secondary Emulsion: F23 / F30
Primary/Secondary Venturi: 25 / 26
Primary/Secondary Air: 190 / 180
Primary/Secondary Fuel: 120 / 135
Idle Jet: 35
Pump Jet: 45

Does this look right?

Again any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers, j

I've got a 38DGES I'm going to use once my A14 is back together next month. Have you checked the shafts are not worn on the carby? I had to have mine rebushed so the syncgear would stay in contact. As for that jetting I suggest just using the larger of each jet as the base.

The shaft looks pretty good, but there is a slight amount of play, less than 1-1.5mm
would that be a problem?

and for jets u rekon just match the secondary settings with the primaries and go from there?

That's enough for an airleak, but if you get it running first just squirt some wd40 or something over that spot and see if the carb sucks it up and idles higher as a result. Yeah if both barrels are spose to operate at teh same time there's not much point in varying the jet sizes cos they'll both be flowing the same amount of air through them.

What I mean is yeah it's a synchronous so keep it equal

makes sense but when u turn the throttle shaft one butterfly opens before the other so i'm not sure.
Im after a good starting point for the dyno guy to save $$ as I got quoted around 400 for the job at a few places.

Cut out the rust from bottom of rear 1/4's Sunday arvo
and discovered a couple of xtra bits of bog to add to the area needing fixity work, nothin new here its a datsun!!!

I'm gonna fireglass it all up through the week, goin real slow, jus a couple a sheets at a time as I tried to do too much on Sun arvo and it all got too heavy and jus fell off :(

So yeah it should be done by friday if I dont get too enthusiastic.

I'll probly leave stock carby on there for the while till I find the right dyno dude for the twin 36

that is all...

Oh for a decent shed, even a carport would be allright!!!

New Gear Stick pin should be sorted, new nolthane is coming for entire front end.

Any suggestions on good brake pads for the 120Y calipers?

Cheers, j
