My seats are Mira XX (turbo) as well they fit the 1200 ute very well but I want to change to something a little more comfy.

no the prelude seats dont fit straight in.... they are a good sporty seat with nice support and are comfortable....

the prelude rails are longer and also wider than the standard 1200 rails.... you can use one side (trans tunnel side) of the original mounting points but have to redrill the other side.... you have to bend the mounting brackets on the seat rails to a 90 degree angle (they are roughly on a 45 to begin with) and either use spacers to fit or do as i did and cut the L brackets off and re weld them in the right spot....

another method would be to try and adapt the complete standard 1200 seat rails to the prelude seat.... but being a wider seat it would be tricky to fix them to it....

theres a bit involved but its not really that hard and you end up with a nice pair of seats....

I never udnerstood peoples fasicination with Prelude seats. Ive never sat in any but from the looks of them they wouldnt be that supportive, theyre too narrow at the top.

Maybe theres more to it than that.

If prelude seats arent too hard to fit, how about CRX Del Sol seats? very comfy and supportive.

Guys,

I fitted seats into my 1200 ute from an early model ford lazer. Only had to drill some new holes and everything bolted straight in no worries at all. Only problem with these seats is that they take up far more room and they don't support your underside of your legs to well. No good for long distance or if you are a basketball player!!

MX5 is Miata? (in the US) they call them roadsters here. Am I correct?

MX5 = Miata

Most seats are pretty easy to adapt (though your local laws may vary) -- if they have a relatively flat bottom. Doesn't matter if they are wider than the 1200 seats.

Just get some plate metal, bolt to the bottom of the seat. Set the Datsun 1200 seat rails on it and drill new holes. Use the original bolts for safety/strength reasons.

I had that problem when I put Isuzu Bighorn seats in a mini. The probelm was the seat was too low, when we raised it up abit it fixed it

actually with the laser seats, the base is double the thickness of the stocker seats and are actually higher than the staock seats. If you were to raise them you would not be able to sit in the drivers seat unless you were supermodel thin. And then withou power stearing you would surely break your wrists.
