There are few bike engine powered cars that do the sprints here.An OMS (I think it uses a hayabusa 1300) it is 400 kg and a Fisher fury it runs a decomped supercharged hayabusa 1300 it is 450kg (this car is amazing). with a cage I can't imagine a 1200 below 700kg these bike engines have the hp but do the have the torque.
A standard 1300 hayabusa has 102 pound foot is this enough for an extra 300kg?
How heavy are the z car minis?

judging by some of the trackwork kit cars, a decent 1100 cc or bigger bike engine in a 1200 would be plenty fast.

i cant post pics up but i can email some for someone else to post.

i would use a hyabusa 1300cc motor because the suzuki motors seem to be pretty strong. look up on youtube "hyabusa smart car" pretty sure thats it, that'll give you a good idea

is this really cost effective? how much would it cost just for motor, driveline and engine mounts etc???i'm guessing you might not get much change out 15grand? and then turbo etc, then you still have to upgrade brakes etc.

its cost effective 15 grand is a huge budget, you go to a motorbike auction you'll pick up somethen dirt cheap i paid 2200 for a 08 blackbird statuary write-off got dynoed with 134rwhp. as for the rest of it depends how extreme you wanna go with everything my boss has got that much stuff for this sorta thing it's not funny. i think the hard part will be tryin to keep the motor angle to a minimum while tryin to get the tailshaft to line up down the center of the car

2200 is awesome a ca18det half cut can go for more than that and same power! i suppose there is a lot more that needs to be fabricated than doing a CA! There is a mk1 on youtube with a turbo hiyabusa 320rwhp! it looks insane, they converted it to rwd too! Would be awesome to do tho. Mind you if you do everything properly you could easily spend 15g on a CA conversion, i don't see how this would cost less. I mean for the average person like myself. THre are alot of cheaper ways to do things when you do go CA but i'd imagine most of he parts you would need would either be custom or really hard to get a hold of.

Now remember as I'm keeping the car in vintage racing trim I'm not really seriously considering it BUT if I ever did:

Yamaha R1 motors can be had for $1000 US all day long, the older FZR's can be piked up for $500. Both motors will easily put our 175HP, a revised airbox and exhaust makes a huge difference to the engines. My coupe is currently at 1690 lbs with the overbuilt cage. The R1 motor/gearbox would drop 60 lbs off the car, with it no longer needing to meet vintage rules I figures it would be possible to get the car down to 1540 lbs (I've weighed a lot of parts) . If you fab a coupler assembly for the counter shaft sprocket you could use the stock driveshaft. I'd run with out reverse (just by an old honda quad or 3 wheeler for $400 for the paddock)
When we beat this up, doing a bunch of the labor myself (I don't weld or machine parts - well at least not properly) but paying for the important stuff. You're looking at $4-6K in labor and about $1500 in parts, $7500. Now that's still more than the car is worth but it sure would be fun. I've attached or attempted to a picture of our old bike powered sports racer (black car passing the yellow one) The car was completly hand built using lots of production parts that were then custom fabbed. (The picture is in the photo album under track/racing titled bike engine car so if I screw this up somebody please attach it).
