The tranny mounting is the same as the RWD models. The only thing that I know is different is the cooling system outlet that connects to the lower radiator hose. It's a little longer with an extra bend and has 2 1/2" hose outlets.

I thought one of the neat things about the 310/F10's is the way you can change out the clutch in about 20 minutes! A couple of bolts and the clutch pilot shaft comes out the end. Remove a tin cover and you can remove the presure plate bolts. Lift out the presure plate and clutch disk!

Don't try to make a high performance clutch by stacking 2 of the diaphram springs on the presure plate. A friend tried that. Not sure what was happening, maybe the stacked springs were bottoming out but it wasted the center main bearing's thrust washers.

The stock clutch seems to be hard on the thrust washers as is. I have used a couple of engines from 310's and in both of them the crank had lots of end float. The one we put in the race car had almost 1/8" of float! It was for a trailered autocross car so we just used it as was. Never blew up!

Once at a junk yard I saw a F10 and went over to check it out, its FWD outlay and the rest, and I remember watching in wonder a factory installed fan inside the engine bay, pointing at the carburator, it was strange, and it look cool, I almost took it out , I had to fight myself to control the strange attraction to that fan, it looked weird, but cool. Is all F10's have a fan inside the engine bay? or was this a fluke?
Jaime.

I did grab one of those fans. Plan on mounting it inside the cab for those hot Cali summers.

Hy. What is the factory intended function for that fan, cooling the carburator? if it is that the reason, then a fan like those ones(I will get one too) installed, with a thermo regulator or a switch, would be excelent for a summer fast ride or any occassion when the intake and exhaust area gets hot!. Is the F10 intended this approach?
I will check out a F10 book.
Jaime.

the fan is there to help prevent the gas in the carb from boiling. because of the way they were built, F10's had a tendency to get very hot around the carb, which would actually cause a problem similar to vapor locking, somewhere on the motor (intake I think) there is a thermo switch that controlls it.
also, the clutch diaphram springs tended to get stiffer with age and would cause the thrust surface on the crank to wear, making the crank unusable, whenever you change the clutch, change that spring.

all I can tell you is to look for an electrical part that ain't there on a rwd A14
it's been at least 20 years since I've seen under the hood of one of those.

you could use the fan like a poor mans turbo-zet!

Just jokes.
A turbo-zet is a poor man's turbo-zet...
