not much help for you at the moment, but a friend of mine got one of the first dellow conversions & one of the things he doubted was this part of the conversion. He got a sleeve machined up to take a standard Datsun throwout bearing & arm. Unfortunately Ron passed away a few years ago, & his Ute has disappeared as his ex-wife was still listed in his will & she sold it off. Typical that it'd happen just at the worst possible time. A call to Dellow on Tuesday might be the go.

Would it be possible to get a late model Nissan Micra, fit the 1.8 litre motor from a Tiida & then turbocharged it? Your answer must include parts numbers for the conversion. You have 12 months. Commence.

Yeah it couldn't have happened at a worst possible time! the car was all finished and ready to go on the trailer, but mind you, it was lucky i took it around the block for a spin before i put it on the trailer, i wouldn't have even made it out of pitlane, so i would've went all the way to QLD for basically nothing. But i'm a firm beliver that things happen for a reason! it was never meant to be obviously! Oh well.............. You get that!

I'll definatly give Dellow a call next week to ask for their advice. I have never heard of a thrust bearing wearing out so quick, particulary the standard steel type that the datsun gearboxes have. The only thing i can think the problem being is the datsun pressure plate that i used? maybe that is what chewing the toyota unit?

Not exactly sure? its got me stumped! i'll have to have a look when i take it apart in the next couple of days.

stevo you must check that the bellhousing is square to the block and the spigot hole in the bellhousing is concentric to the crankshaft , do this with a dial indicator stuck on the flywheel and turn the motor over by hand , sorry to let the wind out of your sales but i have had some bad results with dellow stuff before , the only fix in my instance was to completly remachine the casting myself as dellows machining was wrong.

This box had been completely overhauled, and had been working without issue in a competitive race car since the rebuild, I hope you can find the source of the problem.

I always thought mine used a modified Datsun carrier and bearing on the modified Toyota spigot.
I recall boring out the carrier and machining down the spigot to use the Datsun carrier and bearing

Can't check though
Am 10 000 miles from the gearbox
