So you have power to the coil and no spark. If there is a wire heading from the negative coil back to the car, disconnect it. (to eliminate anything inside the car that may be causing the car to fail) Then there should be the wire from the negative coil to the distributor. Make sure that the female spade connector is secure and clean, then inspect your points. The gap for the points should be 0.018" or 0.45mm. Also a thing to check is the colour of the points where they contact. A bluish black colour indicates a failed condenser. Points too closed will cause a problem also. With a ballast resistor type ignition you should have at least 9 volts of power at the positive post on the coil for it to start. It will also draw on approx 10 amps. If it has 12 volts and draws no amps then it can't produce any spark.

That vacuum hose will go onto a port on the carb base plate around where your mix screw is.

To the right about an inch and down about an inch on your pic there.

ACTUALLY im wrong, its about where it is now, I haven't looked at an a-series carb for ages. Is the port snapped off the carb?

There are some carbs with two ports I have seen on later a-series motors, for a 1200 there should be one vacuum hose from the distributor vacuum advance to the port on the carb.
