compared to the latest super v8 is still king.

D- the Group C Bluebird was powered by the mighty Z18et.[Group C Qualifying Lap Record: 2:13.850 - George Fury (1984 - Nissan Bluebird Turbo) In qualifying trim the turbos were good for approx 20kms. The quaifying engines were like hand grenades also. Sure did ruffle a few feathers in the V8 camps. It doesn't look tooo exotic by todays standards.

Also the lap record still stands as no car has beaten the record before the track layout was altered.
As for the chase, this three turn sequence was added in preparation for the World Touring Car Championship round in 1987 as Con-Rod Straight exceeded the FIA's length for an un-broken straight.

Woody, I think it would be like comparing apples to oranges when comparing your coupe to the cars of the 70's as the torque alone produced by your A15 would be huge advantage over the A12. Tyres and brakes are also worlds apart as well, same goes for Webers V's Hitachi SU's [From memory I think even some of the cars campained ran the std downdraught carb, could be wrong on that point though]. Also in addition to this, the production car's raced in the 70's also lugged around their full interiors.

well done though on your regularity run time

cheers

yeah i understand that it is apples and oranges. but still i wouldnt want to try to peddle my standard ish road coupe round the mount in a sub 3.45 lap. because it would be wrong on 2 levels.
1 i actually HAVE mechanical sympathy
2 you would need some serious guts to give it a go, the humble little 1200 wasnt built for speed esspesially in near standard form. i found this out when my 1200 crossed the road on the crest of conrod with a slight side wind. not fun, but it got my attention
