You will have plenty of room with a 1200 auto tunnel especially if you use a stanza 4 or 5 speed i had one sitting in the old Auto sedan and there was plenty of room. The other positive of the 1200 auto tunnel is the gearbox cross member is pretty much dead inline with the tunnel mounts. So easy as to make a cross member.

The coupe we put the L series in had a manual tunnel. I had to remove the original gearbox mounts and radius the gearstick hole slightly for it to fit with the stanza box. There was a small amount of persuasion required at the front of the tunnel needed for clearance.
It was running twin dellorto's. There wasn't an issue with bonnet clearance.
I'll see if I can dig out some photo's.

yeah you would be really doing something wrong if you had bonnet clearance issues with side draughts

i tried the small amount of persuasion thing with my manual tunnel....gave up on that one pretty quick as the new tunnel option was looking really really good
with an auto tunnel id just weld in an L series bell housing section so you have plenty of clearance

if its for road reg, and engenieering will need 25mm clearance so eaier for a tunnell in that tunnel less coupe you have tomo.

dont forget some little things, like radiator, 200b speedo cable should work with the bar type speedo (pig dog remebers theres 2 different types) not sure about coupe dash.

Ive got a s13 sr20 de radiator, similar to s13 ca18 de and det radiator. outlets on right spots.

there were a couple of other things but ive got them all n the shed still.

Probably easist conversion ive heard of apart from a14/15 into a 1200

If the 200b cable works on the sedan speedo It'll work on the coupe one too.

some 1200 speedos have are slightly different, so not all speedo cables are the same. found this out when i put my coupe dash in the the speedo went up but wouldnt come down again
was good if i wanted to know the fastest id gone, but not much use for anything else. had the grind down the little brass bit at the back of the speedo and slightly shorten the bit of the cable that went into the actual speedo

also with stumpy boxes the speedo cble comes very close to the exhaust so a decent amount of body clips or something are needed to make sure you dont melt the cable
