Howdy,
My 1200 coupe runs a FJ20 with twin 45DCOE Webers.
I had the exact same problem,
I did the swirl and surge tanks and
Two new fuel pumps and
larger fuel lines and
fuel pressure gauge and
new soft mounts for the webers and
on the dyno every thing was perfect but
it still would choke and missfire as if running
out of fuel in tight corners.
The fix in the end (and yours might be different)
was to find someone who really knows webers,
I mean really knows them!
I was not sure weather i should spend my
money on this guy as he was expensive and I
asked myself why should I, the car runs perfectly
in a straight line, the carbs must be setup fine
already, Right?
Wrong!!!
I'm no expert, and from memory all he seamed to
do was adjust the float levels and open up the
air bleed jets (I think that is what they were).
He had a series of number drills and went up one
size at a time.
Anyhow, long story short.
It gained 6 Kilo watts and 500 rpm and has not
missed a beat since and this will be the start of the
third season of racing with this set up and it has
only needed minor adjustments (mainly balance/linkage)since.
Best money I ever spent on the car.
Webers are becoming "old school" and not everyone is an
expert anymore. most younger dyno guys can only tune a
car if it plugs into a laptop.
Cheers,
Geoff
