I've done so many searches on this site, but still can't find the answers. So let me ask a few relevant questions.
What is A series Motors able to rev in standard, lightly modified, race modified trim?
What is good modifications that can be done to increase maximum revs? Balancing, light weight rotational parts etc, please add to this.
Please add your Axx series and the amount the bugger revs, some detail on modifications. This could be quite interesting.

A14 Sub A12 GX Head Dual SU Carbs A12 Flywheel modified to 5.8kg
Limited to 7000rpm Seems to get valve bounce at 7100rpm.
And this sucks, a lot, hoping to fix it thru this post
Remember my father saying this thing should do more than that. Could it be worn out valve springs or am I so far off, I need to sit in the corner and punished for being stupid.

Get new double valve springs for a start, as for the rest??? And check that your clutch & flywheel will take more revs than 7000rpm or you might miss your feet when they are gone! :)

ive heard the speedway boys wind the motors out upto 14,000 rpm but these are fully blown methanol mosnters with a huge diet on internals

The 1000 coupe I bought from Bert has a balanced A12 with ported A15 oval port head. Will rev to 8500rpm but peak power is around 6500rpm so anything beyond 7000rpm is pointless. Matty

Hi mate A brief run down on the specs are: Oversize pistons Balanced internals Ported A15 oval port head with heavy duty valve springs Custom camshaft 45mm side draught Weber Aftermarket and modified intake manifold Custom extractors and exhaust

Stock A12 revs to about 6500
Stock A12GX has dual valves springs, and redline at 6600 -- what can it rev to?

stock...6000-6200 rpm..limited by sinlge valve springs and ponit type ign. modified with head work, 10:1 comp, 98 ron, double GX valve springs and elect ign, 7500-8000. full race with injection or twin 45's knife edged crank forgies Elf fuel big ports dry sump etc etc. 10000rpm tops 14k isnt quite right Jeff taylor does competion speedway engines in Sydney and 10k is about it. Even then you need to change the crank mains bolts every 2 races as they stretch they are under so much load. Although id love to hear an A series rev to that, I wont in my lifetime.

The Cherry featured in the Paul Davies' book produced 109bhp at 10,000 RPM.
Lightened, balanced crank.
Lightened, balanced conrods.
Lightened, balanced flywheel.
Heavily ported head.
Double valve springs.
Larger valves.
Race Camshaft.
Electronic fuel injection.
4 into 1 exhaust.
Not bad for an A10, proved to be one the most successful racing Datsuns of that time.
