yea, ok... i know it as a bannana branch. my mini has one.

i would love to mod my engine a bit but its my daily driver & i cant afford to have it off the road for a couple of days!!

i need to service it tho, so i'll look arnd to see if i can get another a12 head & cam & get those modded, then it should just be a matter of swapping over.

dont want to sound like a noob, but i just inherited a 120y wagon.. 100% stock 4 speed, and i put a 2 inch exhaust and strait through muffler on it.. now it is really quiet.. im not sure if my expectations are too high (with loudness) when we cut it off under the front seat before we took it to the exhaust shop.. because that was literally deafening .. but i loved it, so id the manifold to restricting for the larger exhaust, should i get extractors.. im not looking at modding the engine at all, besides new leads and plugs, and maybe tune the carbie a little.. should i cut the exhaust before it goes over my diff? or just take the muffler off :P.. just annoying because i actually paid for it to be quieter..

go extractors!!!

I got a 4-1 branch and 2inch straight thru pipe, It sounds awesome!!!! (it also failed rego at 100db (95 is a pass)

Other day the roar from the mighty 120Y literally scared some chick like a deer in the headlights (it was day time)

She was crossin the road about 150m ahead of me (no ped crossing just jaywalkin) when I dropped first she looked up, as I snapped second her eyes widened. She seemed to loose all motor control and just stood in the middle of the road while I continued to rev second right out then smash third while steering off the side of the road to avoid this statue who seemed to recover her senses just as the evil DAT left her behind in a whirlwind or exhaust noise (all of this occurred under the speed limit the exhaust just sounds damm great)

Ah ha ha ha ha I LOVE Datsuns

Not necessarily u need to tune it with the exhaust on, maybe no need for bigger jets, its just not that simple a relationship

basically... get a dyno tune and u will know where the power can be had.

I've been told my Induction and exhaust are both "too big" for my engine, but I just see that as removing any potential bottle necks that could restrict it...

IMHO A good sounding zorst is some sort of headers with a 2inch straight thru w muffler in front of diff

XCracer, they most likely put a really restictive muffler on with your new exhaust. you need to get a straight thru or semi straight thru muffler if you want it to be loud

there is just not that much gas flow from a 70 odd hp 1200cc motor,
even 2" system on a stock a12 is overkill and 2.5" is just adding a lot of weight that the car will struggle more to pull, u will have no backpressure and lose what little bottom end torque u have.

I have a small sports muffler with NO resinator in a 1.75" system with a stage 1 cam with rejetted stock carb on a14 and that is still quiet, because so little gasflow.

and u only get a dump pipe when u get a turbo, if u really just want more noise drill a hole in it.

well i know first hand that this thing was louder than any other car in town for that one night i took the muffler off.. it may not have much gassflow but without a muffler it roars...
