that is a very good point. i am willing to bet that once i get the engine in and tuned good, it may do better in the 1/4 mile than my s2000

There are plenty of RWD engines that absoutley sh!t over the 12a..eg FE DOHC mazda engine from 1988 Capella 626, these engines are perfect for turbo charging just lowering the compression the only engine mod needed as the stock internals handle upwards of 350hp..

I dont know alot about that motor but I can imagine it would have many drawbacks over a 12A. A 12A will get close to 350hp without even needing to turbo it. 12A will be cheaper to modify and will fit in the car easier and be lighter.

Either stick nissan or go rotary there dont seem many other options to me. The thing that puts me off rotaries is there shocking fuel consumption but im sure you already realise that

Should be relatively easy to get a rotary 1200 to be faster than an S2000. A stock S2000 will pull low 14s but theyre that highly tuned already to get them to do much better than a high 13 is quite expensive. Theres plenty of 1200's doing lower times than that. compare 1200kg and 240hp against 700kgs and 300hp

yea, i know about the fuel consumption. my friend has a street-ported 12a and gets 12-15 miles per gallon. his carberator is the size of the one on my frinds 5.7l v-8. im not to worrined about that though, its not going to be a daily driver.

I am part of the way through putting a series 5 13b turbo into my 1200 ute.

The main thing that draws me towards it's use is the ease of installation (next easiest thing to transplant other an an a-series engine), it's fuel effeciency, the ride/drive quality, and the fact that massive power gains come quite cheaply.

Also, the engine package (engine, g/b, loom, ecu) only cost me AU$1700!

Mine will be a total sleeper for a few years, but one day I may decide to do some real work to the exterior.

I did have a 12a 6-port ready to go into the ute, but canned it pretty quick. I figured if I was going to go to the trouble of a completely different engine, I might as well go for fuel injection as well!

P.S. Just on a side note, I was able to bounce the front wheels of the ground on my 1200 coupe (engine and all), by jumping up and down on the tow bar. Imagine even a 250hp rotor in a 1200 getting hooked up on the drag strip!

P.P.S. Yes the front shocks are cactus!!

the words "Fuel Efficiency" and "Rotary" should never be in the same sentence.

yeah whats with the fuel efficiency comment? did he mean lack there of...?

if u ever look at the timing map of a 13b turbo, and yes a late model, it actually looks more like a richter scale.
should call it a 13b richter map.

Yes! This is the reason carby rotory's drive so terribly! The timing, but more importantly the fuel map, needs to change dramatically throughout the rev range for a rotor to run smoothly.

And a fuel efficient rotor???? where???? I think it used to cost me $20 to get my 13BT out of the driveway
