its weird that the flicker light would come on with the charge light sometimes.. you could have a bad earth, so go through all your earth wires and make sure they`re metal to metal, that or someone messed up with the wiring somewhere, i`m probably not much help, but just keeping the post going so you can be helped, but like the other guy said earlier in the post.. service it.. like just go through everythi9ng and make sure everything works.. all your lights and stuff

Hi all. Normally I would do the "Hi, here I am, this is my car..." introduction, which I will shortly after I sort some gremlins of my own, however after reading about this problem I thought I'd share what has happened to me before. Your problem could be different to one I've had previously, but I've had a certain little juvenile drop a packet of cigarette papers in my fuel tank. This would cause the papers to float freely until one would pass under the fuel pickup and block off fuel flow. As the car coasted to the roadside, the papers would float away allowing the car to behave normally. That is, until it picked up the papers again....
Hope you solve the mystery.

Also had a similar problem the ignition barrel was worn, after years of keys on a keyring bouncing around i imagine. Mine would die you touch the key and it would cut back in. If you have another ignition handy or access to one plug it in and take it round the block see what happens.

I feel your pain, nothing worse than intermittent problems. a backfire could mean the timing is way out and that would cause stalling too. it could be to do with fuel pressure as jmac said also.

Intermittent poor running. If it is Datsun electronic ignition, you can remove the condensor.

I also had the slimier problem last week, actually it was a problem with fuel pump, that did not deliver fuel continuously to the carb, just check whether it is providing fuel without failure or delay

thanks
