It would be fairly easy to put a rotary motor in a 1200. The overall size is the same. Small engine with small tranny and the weight would be close, which is a plus when pulling up to a heavier car.
The plus is that the hp on a stock 12a rotary is the same to a highly motified A12 datsun motor. If you spend the same amout of money on modifying both motors the rotary will blow the A12 away. Plus turbo would be a bolt on item. Im into keeping the pride of nissan with my car, but wouldn't the pride still be there after you blow the doors off of some honda or v8?

nah, rotaries shouldnt be welcome in any datto. stick with the nissan/datsun motors. no respect for people who put rotary motors in datsuns, its just no good in my books. they are my books of course, but i reckon most guys in this site agree. most dattos are trannys in every which way but motors anyway (skyline discs, celica g/b and the like), ripping the heart out of a datto 1200 and replacing it with the most unreliable, uneconomical, and unethical motors this world has ever seen is a joke.

We should have a poll! I certainly do not agree ... any great engine is a great engine to me, no matter what kind of car it is in.

The A12 does not go hard ... could you even get a 15-second quarter mile out of a worked one? I doubt it, without forced aspiration. It might go hard in a lighter Datsun 1000.

no, in regards to ur statement, i used the words unethical to mean too loud and unacceptable (usually) in traffic. it may be a broad term to use but i think its suitable.

ddgonzal, whats the point of having a car do a quarter in or faster than 15 seconds? personally, i enjoy driving my cars more for the reason of driving them. i do not measure a cars value for what they do in a quarter mile, thats just stupid.

i take the fact that most guys on this site would agree with me because everyones gets so pedantic and worried when someone mentions the words "toyota engine" when talking about a conversion to a 1200. well... i totally agree. but this exceptions bullshit regarding a rotary is absolutely hypocritical at best. even the keel if u think rotaries are suited to 1200z. or, if u dont wanna, cry to ur mama coz its my opinion. if your that much of a baby to get 'cut' at me using the words... everyone.... then i take it back and restate my thoughts of how stupid anyone would be to ruin a datto 1200 with a rotary.

ner.
