The hell with safety. The faster the better.
When looking at our local taxi's I think even a crappy rusted datsun is still safer to travel with than the taxi.

Shucks, you should see the state of some cars here in Zim!!! SA at least has some type of rule of law that is at least policed some what.
Here, if you get stopped at a road block, your car can be in perfect condition & they'll ask you for your fire extinguisher or warning triangle or say your reflectors are two small or some stupid thing just to get a bribe! The one time, they wanted to impound my 1200 cos my seat belt wasnt latching! Yet you see bust up old jalopies being stopped at road blocks & 5min later they sail thru! Its not about the condition of your car that matters here, its how much you're willing to fork out when you get stopped - perfect condition car or not!

hehehe.... down the road from where i work theres a 1200 complete with bullet holes!!!
The guy ran a road block & they open fire with an AK! only damage was to the car though & he got away!
