it is supposed to go inside or under the tower, not on top like it was. whats not to understand, the weight would be distributed around the metal plate and the raised ridge comes through the opening in the tower. the weight on the car is pushed down on the hat, holding it in place and the bolts/nuts only help to located the top hat.

The way it was before was that the entire weight was being held by 3 nuts, on thin metal that would likely bend or tear under heavy loads, especially with the elongated slots in them.

not being rash but why not install them like designed and previously advised?

haha it's ok no one needs to get frustrated over a car that doesn't belong to them. I have not put it back together yet I simply asked for suggestions and I got them. I see what your saying but having seen the situation in person and taken it apart myself I can figure it out the rest of the way myself, and you have to take into account that when this was done not only did they raise the shock towers they are completely fabricated.

im not frustrated, not my car, just silly the way it was done.

The shock towers may be modded to accomodate it but that spring top hat is no where strong enought to support the car from the on top position.

the top spring mount I believe still rides on the inside of the shock tower so I trust that the weight is still distributed.
Ah, so that should be OK. I have seen one other car with raised shock towers, that owner did it to lower the car a little bit but stall have 100% of the factory suspension travel.

FYI,
that mangled, modded strut tower that DD posted is mine.
I took that picture after I was involved in an accident.
It actually held up pretty well.

I had at one point some nice fabed aluminum brackets that put the strut donut (as a I call it) on top of the tower. The key bit was a spacer between the spring cone and the bearing plate. The one pictured does the job but as noted the Nissan Comp manual as a better way to acconplish the job.......I agree that slotting the donut plate looks iffy.

So assmebly of that strut from spindle up would be: Strut,Spring,Spring Cone, Appropriate Spacer, Bearing Plate into the underside of the strut tower then the strut donut bolted on top.
