Norton AV product went through a bad period in 2005-2007. It's apparently improved a lot recently.
They pay my bills, but I don't work in AntiVirus, so don't hold it against me.

Guys have a look at Eset NOD32 for about $50 Aus. It is by far the best AV application out there.
I had that same friggin virus with AVG and decided to buy NOD32.

It is also very light on system resources, the kind of AV that you install and forget.
