If the ute has been written off, dont they mark down the chassis number and then it is no longer able to be re registered? And you couldnt possibly be able to use the engineering package in another ute as that is basically the same as building a new one?
I dont think id be repairing it....

unbelievable, there is no way that can be repaired, it looks like alot of force was one it which could possible mean the internals of the engine is shot as well??
