hey mate,

i have a friend at uni that is encouraging me to race my newly twin turbo 1200 at phillip island in november, im pretty sure he knows your and your mates (cam i think) cars, the 1000 and 1600. so i guess he's talking bout the same thing as you do

what are the rules, i.e. requirements for the cars as far as safety and stuff, i have a cams 2ns license and car club membership but yeah im wondering what exactly i need to do to the car to prepare it?

thanks for the info hope to see u there

oh and you guys dont actually race in groups do ya?, its just timed laps??? now i think about it im not sure?

Rules are the same as for rally but without the triangles and first aid kit.
Current fire extinguisher, belts etc.
Your licence would be changed to a level 3 from memory $50/annum.
Set suspension up for circuit (3 neg , 3 caster a good starting point). Good brakes and harness. Power is not as important as you think till you sort out the other stuff.

You race in groups of 4 or 6 and laps are individually timed so you are racing against yourself. If you dont go of you wont break your car normally. Its one of the cheapest forms of motorsport.

Nope

You don't require a cage, and a 3 point seatbelt is good enough. Cams L2S required.

The blue 1600 has been tearing it up down there the last couple of PIARC races.

I'll be there either in a Datto 1200 CA18DE, or if it's not finished I'll just have to take the Skyline out for some loving!

The boys have pretty muched summed it up.

I'll scan a set of the MSCA sup regs for on of the rounds. This will give you an idea of what you require.

As for power!!!!! not as important as one would think. Cam has only beaten me at one track this year and that was Calder, which is known to be a power circut with the long straights.

You would be suprised how fast a well set up A series will punt around a circuit .

There is one other point to make and that is the pricks at Phillip Island and Sandown limit you (strickly!) to 75 dba.

I got the black flag at PI. So if you run twin webers you have to back of near the sound man (stuff you lap time) or risk getting kicked off due to induction noise alone
.

I will send you the sup regs via MSN

Cheers

Stevo

Between $80 and $100 per event depending on insurance required.
Scrutineering on the day from 7:30 or 8am usually.
You need to enter at least 2 weeks prior as these are usually fully entered.
