I had a similar problem after going from A12 to A15. I ended up running a wire from the balast resistor to the + side on the coil and it started up. Worth a try.

hi mate

if you are certain there is power to the coil when the key is at the ON posistion and the starter is cranking there is only one other posability for having no spark and that is dizzy,

just an idea

first to check wiring to coil,

take off both wires connecting the coil and turn the key to the ON posistion check which wire is POWER+ with a test light, connect it to the + side of the coil

now to test your distributor wiring ( i havent tried this method but in theory it should work )

the one other wire to coil that isnt power, connect this to a test light, and the other terminal of the test light to battery + now crank the engine, if the test light is always on something in your distributor is causing the coil to always be earthed.
if the test light is always off then your coil is never earthing and wont charge to be able to spark,

like someone else suggested you could also check both at the same time by running a test light across + and - on the coil and checking for a flash while cranking

if the light is flashing as you crank it is possable your timing is incorrect,

hopefuly you can make some sense out of this

also

if your distributor is tested and is OK

but you cannot find any wire which is POWER + to coil you could get the car started by running a wire from battery to coil + then crank the engine

it isnt recomended you run your car like this for any period of time because it will cause your points to wear faster

thanks everyone for their feedback,
I went out his morning and connected battery up and it fired up, damn electrical gremlins.
Anyway going forward, I hope to have it registered on club plates in the next couple of weeks.
I also have a 1200 coupe auto shell which I will have on the market in the next couple of weeks if anyone is interested,
cheers
Bruce

I think I have sold it, but if it falls through I'll post some photos.
The details are:
It is an auto shell coupe, It is definately one to fix up rather than part out I would have thought.
it has rust in the rear tail light panel but comes with a spare rust free panel to replace it if you so wish. It had rust in one sill but this has been replaced. The rest is pretty much rust free.
All the glass has been removed but comes with it. I have spare doors, guards and bonnet and boot if the purchaser wants them.
It currently hasn't got a motor in it, but I can slot in a running a12 and 4 speed if the buyer wants them in. It has got non original front seats, no back seat, but most of the other interior trim is still there.
cheers
Bruce
