Yes,very knowledgable guys and i won't name drop,but be advised,choose your questions carefully as they have a very low tolerance for "tyre kickers"

so idatto, is this a street car or a race car and do you just want high end power or do you want some economy or would you prefer low down torque????

edit: for maximum bang for buck spending that $1000 on putting in an a14/15 will give a better result

um i would like nice tourque pretty well through the rev range cus i would like some more acceleration but top end speed isnt really important as i wont be doing over 110 *cough cough*

Idatto: I've been using the GX carbs for something like 15 years. Our Coupe is used for a couple of track days & a race or two every year................running an A12GX with ported head, header & velocity stacks. The car performs well under all conditions..............this is what makes a CV carb nice. Also most people don't bother tuning them, you can change what weight oil & level you use in the dash pots to suit you're conditions. The only thing extra I would recommend is a Air/Fuel ratio gauge (you'll need an O2 sensor mounted in the exhaust) which will allow you to adjust the mixture. Finally if you go with the GX set up, read up on tuning the Hitachi carbs as a garage mechanic can make changes to needles, springs. oil etc to fine tune your set up. Webbers are great but for the street they do have some compromises and as mentioned by many they need to be tuned by someone who knows what they are doing.

What size are the Gx carbs? You could just buy Genuine S.U.'s brand new instead. They come in a variety of sizes and they're not even that expensive.

okay so going off what rallytwit said gx carbs take alot to get them upto scratch and have alot of fiddling around?
im leaning towards dual webers
does anyone have any reasons for why they would be bad for a street application?

iDatto, no reason why not to go Webers as long as you know of a good tuner too get them sorted out properly.

Another good point everyone has been making,before deciding,ring around and find someone with side draft experiance and a dyno and a good selection of jets and chokes etc(so you don't have to buy before you try)and get an approx price to do the work.Weber jets are non returnable.
Motocarb do not have a dyno,they'll get it close by ear and a drive down the street with the o2 sensor shoved up the tail pipe but far from perfect.

This is one of the reasons we are moving away from side draft as there is no one on the coast we have found with all of the above mentioned gear.

There are a couple of places in Brissy that quoted me around your total budget to do a quick run in on an A15 race motor and twin sidey tune.

bert your close, but not quite on the dot

motacarb will tune it well enough to get it to their mates workshop who has a dyno

my teacher just got a cortina engine built there and taken to the dyno, same sorta deal i want

so if i have a good dyno tune and the mota carb boys tuning at the dyno, there is no reason why i shouldnt go webbers (trying to put in a question mark but it doesnt work)
