I have heard that 180b lca bolt straight in and are longer so they give you more camber. Can someone veryfy this.

With 3 degrees and by playing with tire preasures on toyo r888 I ended up with an even spread of tire temp 70'c accross the whole tire (using infared). I found the trick was to go super low on the presure 18 psi. My ute has no adjustment so if I wanted more camber I could not get it anyway.

With no camber the outside of the toyos (at 24psi) really scrubed away, started to over heat and to wear off the little triangles on the side walls after a days worth of sprinting.

I like the idea of being able to put lca back in the original spot if needed think about welding up the old holes.

I used 6mm plate ally on the camber tops the centres are from tein s13 adjustable strut tops.

Matty,
6 degrees negative camber?! Do the outside of your tires ever touch the ground? What are you using for bushings and tires? With urethane or spherical bearings and a decent track tire, I wouldn't think you'd get enough flex in the front suspension or body roll to warrant that much camber... Most of the 510 race guys run between 1.5 to 3 degrees negative, and that car's a good 400 lbs. heavier.Even the famous BRE 510 ran 1.5 degrees negative at all 4 corners. Given though, that they ran on Bias full race Goodyears, but still...

Hi Lowtech
Thanks for the interest.
I run relatively soft 225lbs front springs and a small front bar so the full face of the tyres is indeed used when cornering as evidenceed by the even wear rates.

Sorry Lowtech I forgot to answer a couple of your questions.
All bushes are poly and tyres are Toyo R888's.

Relative to what? Stock springs are 96lbs. Racing springs for a light car like datsun 1200 225lbs is typical.

Matty,
You must be cornering like crazy! I'm running poly bushes, the larger 20mm sway bar, 175pound springs, Koni yellow adjustables, 1 degree negative camber, and the Toyo R888's 225/45- 13. It's also lowered 3.5 inches over factory height. According to the accelerometer my friend was using, it is pulling just under 1G on the skid pad(.96) and the wear is pretty even.

iDatto - I am really sorry for the hijack.

DD - My car is no longer A series powered. I have been running a CA18DET for the past 4 or 5 years which might explain the spring rate for you. The guys running in IPRA here in Australia typically use spring rates ranging from 250lbs to 300lbs. Keep in mind cars in this class are caged too which generally allows you back off the spring rates.
The suspension set up on my car has been a work in progress since the CA went in. Ken Graham (Accurate Suspension) here in Brisbane has been responsible for the past 2 iterations. Ken has campaigned a very fast 1600 (510) for many years and is pretty well known as a good pedaller and a good suspension tuner. Ken likes to set up his cars low and soft with plenty of camber. It seems to work as he has plenty of quick machines running round south east QLD. If I went to see Ken and said the car is doing `X' what can you do and he set it up with less camber it wouldn't bother me in the slightest provided it was faster.

Lowtech - I corner as hard as the car will let me. To give you an idea I had better mid corner speeds yesterday than an Evo 9, Evo 6, Mk4 Supra and an E46 M3 all on semis.

Again sorry for the hijack and the essay!

Matty
