sorry mcgee i didnt mean use 91 with boost. with boost 98 only, even though some modern factory engines are designed to use 91 with low boost 7psi or less, they are hi tech knock sensors and all.

i had to run octane booster in my old 620 as the compression is well over 11:1 and would ping on 98 but when i was running on 103 octane she ran beautifully....soon i will know how much power my engine puts out when the guy who got it gets it dyno tuned hehehe

I run my cars on BP Ultimate. When tracking them I also add a bottle of Nulon Pro Strength Octane Booster.

Does anyone use those valve buster additives with unleaded fuel. Or can a standard A14 run fine without it?

I use moreys upper cylinder lubricant,

another variable is burning oil, that causes pinging on very hot days and under load because the oil pre-ignites easily, so u need to up the octane to stop it. mostly the compression is dropping on a tired motor burning oil so it doesnt happen, but if u have burning oil with good compression its a problem.
