thought id chuck in my 2 cents worth....
1. I hate SUV's on the road... biggest pieces of s**t out there... u cant see past them or around them... no one can park them... they always take up more than one car space at car parks (i only do that, cause i hate ppl opening up their doors on my car)
2. the people that normally drive them are usually oblivious to people that drive smaller cars on the road. Eg... I nearly got cleaned up by a guy in a Toyota Landcruiser at a give way sign, and its not the 1st time... Not only that, i notice whenever i drive the datto, People in SUV's will sit right on ur tail and flash the lights and sound the horn and carry on. General observation SUV drivers are very angry people

i reckon SUV's should have conditional regos, like Lawnmowers or tractors and be used under certain conditions.

Its the mentality that has to change really. There is still a huge prejudice against small cars, motorbikes and bicycles and even public transport. Whether this is directly influenced by fear-based consumerism ("its not safe to venture out of the house without a tank these days, here son I bought you a Wii bike because a real one is just too dangerous") residual American hedonism, or just the extremes of Australia's' terrain and space.

While I can see the need for some of these for suburban family use, (althouh station wagons seem prety bloody big enough these days...foresters included ;))Its the luxury "business" models that really get on my nerves (Volvos,Porsche,Mercs).Seeing one of these anywhere near the CBD (usually occupied by one person too many) reeks of selfishness and arrogance.

Maybe we just have to wait until our population levels and traffic congestion reach that of other places in the world until people realise the importance of alternative methods of transport suitable to their surrounding environments.
...until then I'll take every opportunity not to let one cut in.

better watch out who we pik on. maybe the next people to pick on are the people driving old hi emission dangerous cars with rust. i recon everyone of my 4 dattos are more dangerous than my 4runner

just tonight i had an x5 or what ever those bmw pieces of snot are sitting up my as$ with thier highbeams on and then as i turned into the turning lane they beeped and abused the crappers outta me... i was doing the speedlimit what more do they want...

I hate the Nissan Tiida - I've yet to drive a worse new car...even the Ford Fiesta is better than it! I think even the Hyundai Excel is better too....but I've got a lot of hate to go around.

Matto 1k fair points...while it might seem a bit hypocritical,
Datsuns are few compared to SUVs and many aren't even driven as dailys, Being an older, smaller car doesnt automatically have to mean its less safe...sometimes it can mean you are more aware of your machine, its limits and surroundings.

But on that note, I wonder what the stats would say of accidents, injury rates and deaths before and after the introduction of airbags, parking sensors, crumple zones ect? Do saftey features make us more complacent behind the wheel, less responsible, attentive and more likely to have or cause an accident?
