Installing Distributer on TDC

Hi Guys
My Piston #1 is in TDC Point,But when i install my Distributor it is not pointing to high tension segment How should i get it to that point , Through the crank pulley or from the distributor it self ? Thanks Regards sumith

To get the rotor to point to the correct high tension lead, rotate the distributor housing. If there is not enough movement possible, remove the distributor and replace it in a new position.

As you said i installed the Distributor, just see any do you see anything wrong here ? we assume the no1 cylinder is just close to to therminal transmitter isn't it and also see the plug wire connection if you can please ? Do not ever assume when talking about timing.
It must be right, or the engine won't start. No 1 is the front cylinder. The rotor must point to it when the timing marks are lined up.

So it is Clear, Distributer rotar Location is wrong in mine isn't it ? that is pointing Cylinder 4 Thanks Regards sumith

Yes it looks that way to me.
How did you determine it was at TDC? When you line up the marks, it will at TDC of #1 or TDC of #4. Just reverse wires #1 & #4, and #2 & #3. It may start up directly.

I turned the Crank pulley removing no #1 Spark plug and kept a screw driver into it and let the piston to come to the top highest on it , that time the Crank Pulley is 5, so assumed that it is TDC, is it correct ? thanks regards sumith

No, TDC will be at 0 mark, not at the 5 mark.

Find TDC of cylinder #1 by looking at the the valves and the timing mark on your pulley.
With the dizzy out of the car put the dizzy cap on (with the rotor in there a well) and mark on the outside body of the dizzy (with a marker or something) the centre of the number 1 contact (where you're going to put the number 1 high tension lead.) Take off the dizzy cap and turn the rotor so it's pointing at the mark before sliding the dizzy back into the engine block. When you get toward the bottom the rotor is going to want to slide anti-clock wise (in the direction of the firing order) so you want to turn the rotor clock wise about 20 degrees or so. So when the dizzy is fully installed it is as close as possible to the mark you made before. Put in the adjusting screw but leave it a little loose to fine tune the timing later. Install your spark plugs high tension lead and everything else you've disconnected. Start the car and set your timing. I use roughly 10 degrees base timing at about 800rpm. Then set your dwell after that.

Check to see if both rockers for 1st cylinder have play 4. If they don't, rotate the engine a full turn 5. Verify that rockers for cylinder #1 have play That's TDC of the No. 1 cylinder.
