As the title says has anyone done it? what did they do? can you get a crossmember kit? has anyone done it in perth? how much does engineering cost? how much has the total cost?
using say a front cut and a brake upgrade and various other bits how much would it cost for the conversion using a stock engine? i am wiling to give most of it a go i have done most of my car by myself as it is i know it's not much that ive done but hey i'm willing. sorry for the long post and probably for the questions that have been done to death

x-member part of it is the same as for a 510/1600 or 610/180B as those x-members will bolt into the 120Y. X-members should be available for that swap from Matdat (or whatever its called). Should make that part of the conversion easier, if not cheap.

hay ca18det into a 120y will fit fine as tunnel is slightly bigger if u are going 2 use the stumpy box.. and slightly bigger engine bay.. the crossmember wound have 2 be fabricated up your self or a mechanic.. dumby fit motor as im positive they only make kits for 1200 ute..
it woul be a easieir coversion as u have disc's all ready on the front.. diff would have 2 be changed.. and new tail shaft, new fuel pumps, ect all up expenses are usually about 6000$ for a conversion it seems alot but... well worth the fun and enjoyment and reliability /fuel efficiantcy..

MADDAT CA18/1600 Fitting Kit x-xmember and engine mounts will bolt straight into your 120Y. You don't want the swaybar and tailshaft, but the g'box x-member may fit, or at worst be easily modified to fit.

try "r moore engines" in kewdale, they import, or at least used to import jap cars and jap engines / front cuts..
i hope to one day convert my little sunny into a ca18det street sleeper... and with the back tyres smoking i will have to change the name from datsun sunny to datsun overcast! chuck..day dreamer. You can view topic.
