#1 Can't Accelarate the car
Sumith Posted on: 2010/1/4 3:19
Hi Guys

Now datto is runing bit smoother, but i did not check it for very low rpm , but better than before, now my problem is it started in one key without any backfire. As long as you start you can accelerate it for high rpm and again you keep it idle for few moments and try to accelerate it suddenly stops , my mechanic is guessing that the door pin of Carburetor is having a leak on it ,there is a bit play on it with vertically and also horizontally, will that be the guest of your's guy ? so he wanted me to bushing the pin in the accelerator handle ,will that solve my problem ?

Thanks
Regards

door pin?
accelerator handle?

These are unfamiliar terms. Please peruse this diagram and let us know which parts he is referring to:

Hi DD

I am Reffering to the 61 Block as i understand .and see i have marked on RED, where you connect the accelerator cable, the hook that you connect accelerator cable is connected to the carb 61 block
with a pin through out the 61 block housing, where the throttle plate is connected to that inside it which going through the housing vertically to the other end , are you clear about it ?.

thanks

61 is the "Throttle body". I think you are referring to the throttle shaft. Certainly if there is up-down play in the shaft, a satisfactory idle will not be obtained.

However, didn't this same carburetor idle much better before being being repaired? Which suggests it has not been properly adjusted.

Hi DD

yes DD the Throttle shaft ,That is what i am worried about, this has been running wel perfectly in idle and also fuel consumption, the car is far away from my usual mechanic ,he is also insisting that it can't be , now a days i am hiring a different mechanic he says when you reassemble it these things could happen ,but i don't believe it,what do you think will it be the reason for it ?

Thanks

I think you should find a different mechanic. There is no need to remove this part, except to replace or rebush the shaft. Mine is 37 years old and still idling very well.

You might try adjusting the carburetor yourself. Once rebuilt, the carburetor needs on-vehicle adjustment. Has it been done?
