there are kits for better earth, the idea is to gain better spark and remove 'interfearance' or something like that.

Its oneof those things that some swear buy, and others would bet there life against??

it comes down to resistance to earth... if u have high resitance to ground, its harder for the electricity to travel :) hence the name(resistance) :)

the more earth straps u have, the better :) within reason of course Lol dont go stupid, 3 or 4 is plenty if your that keen, or just make sure ure all your contacts are clean

u should do it if your earth contacts havent been cleaned since the car was built.

Good earths are always vital for your ignition system to work properly, but I doubt you'll see any huge power gains through this mod (maybe smoother running?)

If you run an earth strap from your head, you can also help to avoid corrosion through reducing electrolysis.

If you look at late model cars they often have 3 or 4 earth straps - although obviously they have a lot more complex electronics than the humble 1200!

My Datsun has a "High Performance Tuning Earth Cable". It looks fabulous.

For looks, worth every penny. For performance, it's a total waste of your hard-earned dollars. It will not increase performance over the stock system.

If you have a good ground/earth, having seven ground cables (as mine does) won't help increase the peformance.

The stock system has two grounds. One to the engine (the big black cable) and one to the body (the large wire). Just make sure they are not damaged, and that they are securely fastened. If they are loose, remove and carefully inspect for corrosion. Clean thoroughly if possible, replace if neccesary. Some guys have faulty stock earths/ground so install a "Tuning Earth" and it resolves the faulty system. And so legends are born.

Yes, this is how the Datsun 1200 was designed, it has a earth cable directly to the engine. And one to the body. The head is earthed through the head bolts (10 earth points).

that lot must make disconnecting and reconnecting the battery a headache DD

Hi DD

Are those 2 Main Body grounds from where ? 1 from battery negative and the other directly connect to the same connection and to the body ?

Thanks

Yes, that is correct.

Learn to look for and follow the links: Stock System
The text and photos at that link should explain it all.
