Hi I would like to know the best way to increase the size of my tunnel. My coupe is still running an A series but its in the process of getting restored and im thinking of increasing the size of the tunnel while everything is out. I would like to keep my heater so i think the maddat tunnels are out of the question. Is welding an auto tunnel in going to be my best bet, what other options do i have? Any help appreciated. Cheers

are you keeping a A series in it or sumthing like a CA or SR your going for?, i fitted an auto tunnel in my ute to fit my CA18det(see my build), yeah sure auto tunnel will give you plenty clearence and still be able to keep your heaterbox

heres a tunnel

just put ca into auto tunnel, clears everywhere by at least two finger widths

no worries with using that tunnel!

id go a 120y tunnel for the bigger bellhousing area than a 1200 auto one. still has mounts in it for A series gearbox and can fit the stock heater easy

EDIT: lol at that ebay ad. apparently that tunel will bolt straight in and save you the hassle of welding in a bigger one...wonder if it comes with these magic bolts that will make it bolt in

Thanks guys for the answers i got excited and bought the one off ebay for under $200 including postage. Not sure if i payed too much but like i said i got too excited and wanted it. Like pigdog said, i hope those special bolts come too :) Can any one confirm if the auto tunnel mounts line up with the 4 speed gearbox cross member?

id say no they dont line up, $200 is probably a bit more than wat you should have payed. can find lots of other datsuns being scrapped that people will cut the tunnel out of for less

Yeah true, but i know that one will fit in the car as most people have said it will. The easier it is to fit the better for me as im going to give it a go at home. I hope i dont f@#k it up and im not looking forward to welding the floor on my back. so if the cross member dont line up, then ill have to transfer my old mounts into the new tunnel... is than correct?

auto mounts are about 6 inches further back on the car, and welding the manual mounts into the auto tunel wont work... the tunnel is wider, though you could weld them in and make extensions for your crossmember... anyway you go it's going to be custom

Or you could swap in a B210 5-speed now (FS5W63A), as it will fit the auto mounts.
