my ca 18det is running a standard computer. it has always been hard to start cold and needs approx 5 mins to warm up but i've been overseas for 5 months and went to get it from the old mans place and it fired then stalled and wouldn't start?????? no spark, plenty of fuel. he was starting it for me every 2 weeks while i was away and was fine. after some fiddling and cleaning of all the connectors in the wiring harness it ran for a few hours and broke down at the service station again. could it be the crank angle sensor?????? i was told they go alot on these. they are like 1700 bucks from nissan brand new and 125 second hand. would it be an intermitent fault or would it just let go at once???? does anyone else have any other suggestions???

5 months is plenty of time for corrosion to occur in any electrical joins and especially in the fusebox.

Check the ground wire of your fuel pump output from the ecu, that give injector pulse and also check your grounds for your ecu. Clean up all connectors and make sure they have a good connection. There a test for the cas in the factory service manual.

Could be a bad connection. Or you can just get a second one from eBay

hey you could try turning the little diagnostics screw (on the computer )and checking if the computer puts out a code eg red ,red ,green ,green ,green and then check the diagnostics chart for that fault code

hope this help

its got plenty of fuel as in the injectors are firing? but no spark. or was that just before?

if injectors are firing then the CAS is still working. could be ignition module

I would also check the sensors, the MAF sensor (if its still on there) the O2 sensor as well. If the MAF sensor is dirty or damaged the engine wont run or the ECU may sending too much fuel into the engine.

Just my thoughts...
