well i was kinda bored the other night so i thought id go clean up for a few minutes and ended up puttin the a14 on my engine stand. This is the block im using for my coupe. so once it was on the stand, i thought ah might go to bed, and then the sump came off lol. then thought about bed again and had the crank the bench. the pistons are stuck in the bores cause it been sitting headless for a while so got em soakin in so yeild (1000 times better than inox!). Also found a older gilmer drive in one of my many boxes of shiite. might see if i can make something up to fit my engine. would sound pretty funny. Anyone got a gilmer on a dato?? oh, and heres some happy snaps

Scalloped crankshaft, nice one. Hang onto that, you don't see them too often.

Whats all the gunk in the sump pan?

All that gunk is oil/water and looks like a rat may have dropped some of his nest in there lol.
What do you mean by scalloped crank???

Better rat shyte than anything else I suppose.

The scalloped crankshaft was featured in a few A14's, it is lighter than the stock crank so it's a better option for the budget-builder.

It may have been featured in some A12's as well but I'm not sure.

It's shape also makes it easier to knife-edge as most of the material 'lobe' is separated.

I'll try find a comparison picture.

Here, see how your crankshaft has different shaped throws:

ah yes i see what you mean now. hmmm. well i did actually plan to use the a15 crank in this motor, and the a14 rods/pistons and get the piston crown machined down level with the top of the block. Cheap flat tops and stroker lol. but still have to cc head and work out comp ratios before i know exactly what im doin.
