Yes the phantom grip type arrangement is certainly nothing like the quality of design of a true LSD. The old saying applies, you get what you pay for.....BUT, it's really simple to manufacture and 1200 open diff centres are very easy to source! So what if you only get one season out of it
The big advantage for rally people is that it beats the hell out of the difficult driving characteristics of a true locker, thats the only reason I'm interested and I wont be paying any money for it because I'll build it myself and throw it away when everything is worn out
1200rc, it fits inside the diff centre because there are holding pins and metal straps that keep it closed when fitting. Just drive the pin out of the diff and put it phantom grip, drive the diff pin back in, then remove the metal holding strap and the pins from the ends of the phantom grip. once the straps and pins are out the thing springs outwards and applied pressure to the gears, just like the photo at the top of the page.
Simple cheap disposeable alternative to CIG lockers.
